What is Accidents Waiting to Happen?

Accidents Waiting to Happen is a new community contest to kick off the launch of Randy Bushey’s new blog. We want community members to have some fun and snap some photos or videos of potentially accident prone situations and submit them through this site for a chance to win some great prizes. Early bird winners will be announced on May 13, May 27, June 10 and June 24, 2010 with a grand prize winner to be announced on July 1, 2010.

Where can I find potentially accident prone sites or situations?

They are probably a lot closer than you think! Use your imagination, you might have some good photo or video subject matter right in your own house. Maybe Uncle Bob has some very questionable electrical work in his garage, or perhaps your neighbor has a very precarious back deck. Is there a certain construction site you’ve been driving by every morning that doesn’t look too safe? Keep your cell phone handy so you can snap a photo of something you might see while walking down the street or out with friends, you never know when the opportunity will pop up!

Or, search the internet! There are hundreds of funny but potentially dangerous videos on YouTube, tons of photos on Flickr and much more.

Ok, so I’ve got a great photo or video, now what?

Now that you have your photo or video, simply submit it using the entry form. If it’s a photo or video that you found on the internet, you can provide a link to it.

What happens after I submit my photo or video?

If your photo or video is acceptable and appropriate for this contest, Randy will post to this blog site with his comments. He will also note the entrant’s name of the particular photo or video that he is blogging about.

How will the winners be decided?

The contest will be using a public voting system through Buzzes, Re-Tweets, Facebook shares, Emails and shares on Share This that can be found at the bottom of each blog. If you want your entry to win, make sure you share it with your friends and family and let them know to do the same! Each time someone shares your entry, it will show on the respective counter. For example, if someone Re-Tweets your entry, it will show on the Tweets counter, and so on.

How will I know if I’ve won?

If you have won either one of the early bird prizes or the grand prize, we will contact you via the email address you submit through the interface below. You can also monitor your entry to see how you are doing as the counts on each sharing tool are live.

Rules:

Who may enter:

Anyone 18 years of age or older.

What to enter:

Digital photographs or video of any situation that could potentially result in an accident or a less than desirable outcome. You may take a photo or video yourself or use a link to something you’ve found on the internet. Photographs that have won any other contests or have been published in magazines and newspapers (except online) are not eligible. We define winning as having won the grand prize or 1st place overall. Photos that violate or infringe upon another person’s rights, including copyright, are not eligible. Randy Bushey/Knox Insurance reserves the right to disqualify any entry if the content is deemed inappropriate or irrelevant to this contest.

How to enter:

Please submit photographs online through our entry form. We do not accept photographs submitted through the mail. Submit no more than three (3) photographs per entry. We do not accept more than one contestant per e-mail address. Use the online entry form provided on http://randybushey.ca or our Facebook page.

By entering the contest, entrants grant Randy Bushey/Knox Insurance a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any educational, promotional, publicity, exhibition, archival, scholarly, and all other standard Randy Bushey/Knox Insurance purposes. Any photograph or video reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. Randy Bushey/Knox Insurance will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.

Entry deadline:

All entries must be received through The Risk Factor/Accidents Waiting to Happen contest application on http://randybushey.ca by 12 am Eastern Standard Time on June 30, 2010.

Early Bird prizing:

Four individual Early Bird prizes of $50 cash will be awarded on May 13, May 27, June 10 and June 24, 2010. To qualify for an Early Bird prize, you must have your entry in before one of these dates. The entry with the highest number of votes through Buzzes, Tweets, Facebook Shares, Email Shares and Share This shares, or Facebook “likes” on one of the dates above will receive the aforementioned prize. Early Bird winners will also remain in the running for the Grand Prize. Once a submission has won an Early Bird prize, that submission is no longer eligible to win another Early Bird prize.

Voting:

Winners will be decided by public voting through highest total of Buzzes, Tweets, Facebook Shares, Email Shares and Share This shares, or, on Facebook, by the highest amount of “likes”. Voting will begin May 3, 2010, at 12 p.m. and run through June 30, 2010, at 12 am Eastern Standard Time. Visitors will be encouraged to vote for their favorite photograph or video, with the photograph or video receiving the most votes being named the winner. The nine photographs receiving the next highest number of votes will be named runners-up.

Randy Bushey/Knox Insurance has full discretion over final results and reserves the right to override Facebook or website voting if said party feels that the entry is inappropriate or irrelevant.

The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Randy Bushey/Knox Insurance reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of Randy Bushey/Knox Insurance will be final.
